We recommend that you always update to the latest version of Microsoft AutoUpdate (MAU).

Check for updates and install. Open an Office app such as Word, then on the top menu, click Help Check for Updates. If you don't see Check for Updates, run the latest version of Microsoft AutoUpdate tool, then check for updates again. The banner of update appears when Microsoft AutoUpdate Tool detects that you have available release. According to our test previously, this should only appear when Office 2016 is three or more versions behind in updates. Manually Check is the option to avoid prompt as soon as there is any new release.
